We’re excited to announce that we’ve joined on to an initiative from Local Angel Co. to shore up and sustain community wealth and health. Serving as an online marketplace for local products, Local Angel Co. is working to connect businesses in the Washington, DC metro area (DMV) with local nonprofits in an effort to generate funding for those community organizations. Proceeds from products offered on the marketplace will go directly to nonprofits such as SMYAL, DC Food Project, N Street Village, and Local Food Hub.

By joining this marketplace, we are putting our community first, while also furthering our vison to be Unapologetically Bold in 2021. From January – April, 50% of the proceeds from specially designated products in our store will go to the Local Food Hub. Based in rural Virginia, the Hub is working to support small farms and increase community access to fresh, local foods. And that is why we’re so excited to be giving a portion of our proceeds to Local Food Hub. The Hub is taking a two-pronged approach to improving farming operations and increasing community health. Ensuring access to fresh foods means that underserved populations get a chance at better health, reducing their likelihood of chronic disease while simultaneously increasing their nutritional outcomes. Working with farmers to improve their operations also helps them to better sustain their livelihoods and those that depend on them.

We know firsthand the impact that farmers have. Local farmers are so essential to what we do. Many of the ingredients that we source come directly from small Black-owned farms in Prince George’s County, Maryland and Washington, DC. Not only do we get fresh seasonal produce, but we’re also reinvesting back into the local community and supporting fellow business owners. It’s been tremendous getting to know the farmers who are in integral part of the community. So many are involved in community organizing work and fight to make sure those in their vicinity are provided for – be it with food, jobs, or other resources.

All of this results in bolstering the green economy in the DMV. By making a purchase with us – you’re not only supporting our small family business, but you’re also supporting local farmers and local communities. So, wondering what’s available as part of the Local Angel Co. marketplace? Check out our offerings below:

The Charcuterie Spice and More Set

The Charcuterie Spice and More Set

  • Charcuterie Spice Set – This is a delicious set of condiments (our Spicy Mango Chutney and our Island Medley Pepper Sauce) that pairs perfectly with charcuterie boards. Both sauces are bursting with flavor and will add just the right amount of heat to the board. They pair well with meats, cheeses, crackers, and vegetables. The jars they come in are just the right size for any cheese board – but the sauces can also be poured separately into a ramekin. A little goes a long way, and these sauces are bound to add a nice touch to any board.

  • Charcuterie Spice and More Set – You get everything included in the Charcuterie Spice Set plus our Spiced Channa. Inspired by our Trinidadian heritage, these are savory chickpeas spiced according to a time-honored recipe passed down from our namesake Ms. Camella. This savory and crunchy snack makes for a great alternative (or addition) to nuts on a charcuterie board.
