If you followed us in June, you may have remembered that we debuted a plate of chicken wings during our FOX 5 DC interview. On that plate, we served up Spicy Mango Glazed Chicken Wings with a side of our Spicy Mango Chutney. We really loved the recipe, so we’ve decided to make it again, but with a twist. Since we recently launched our fall flavors, we went ahead and subbed out the mango chutney for our Spicy Apple Chutney instead. See below for the delicious results.

Recipe (Serves 2 - 3 people )

Ingredients

Steps

  1. Marinate chicken wings in Island Herb Blend. Set aside for 30 minutes in the refrigerator (for a more intense flavor, you can marinate the wings for a few hours. Wings can also be marinated overnight.).

  2. In a separate bowl, combine the dry ingredients in a bowl and mix together evenly.

  3. Dip wings into flour mixture and coat evenly on each side, making sure to shake off any excess flour.

  4. Pour a generous amount of oil in a frying pan or deep fryer and heat until hot. Use enough to cover the wings.

  5. Carefully place wings into hot oil and fry evenly on both sides for about 10 - 12 minutes or until golden brown.

  6. Remove wings from oil when done and rest on a plate. We recommend removing chicken from the pan with a sieve/skimmer spoon to drain excess oil.

  7. Pour a generous amount of Spicy Apple Chutney into a large bowl. This will be used to coat the chicken wings. For a drier wing, use less chutney. For a saucier wing, use more chutney.

  8. Once the chutney is done, pour the hot wings into the bowl and toss. Make sure the wings are coated evenly.

  9. Place wings on a platter when done and enjoy!
